Roommates: Gian's First
![](../I/m/S_first_8257.png)
Roommates: Gian's First is a backstory written for the Roommates canon. It involves the past of Italian-American immigrant twins Giancarlo Rosato and Santino Rosato when they were 14 years old. The main focus of this story is of Gian's first boyfriend, a brown yoshi named Nathan.
Gian's First was written by Roommates writer Dreamous. The story contains mature sexual situations and dialogue, and is Not Safe for Work. It is located here, and viewing requires a registered Fur Affinity account with mature content activation.

- Coming Out Story: Giancarlo, to his own family.
- First Kiss
- Foot Focus: The first hint Gian has that Nathan is gay, is when they're resting on the couch in Gian's home, Gian comments about how his feet are sore from running exercise, and Nathan gives Gian a surprise foot rub. Nathan is absolutely enamored by Gian's feet.
- The Fundamentalist/Heteronormative Crusader: Nathan's mother June. She hates gay people, ethnic minorities, non-Christians, foreigners, poor people... Basically a bible belt stereotype.
- Gratuitous Italian: Justified -- the Rosato family speaks Italian as their first language, and tend to mutter in Italian in private. Santino is the most common sprinkler of Italian in his speech, and lapses into full Italian when he's angry or having sex.
- Love Hurts: Nathan's mother found out about Gian and Nathan's relationship, and immediately sent Nathan off to a Catholic school the next day. It was over.
- How We Got Here: For Giancarlo and Santino.
- Not Safe for Work
- Rule of Drama
- Shout-Out: Sci-Fi Channel, Tekken, Time Splitters. The Super NES logo on Gian's T-shirt is actually from a Flashback Cut scene in the main comic revisiting events from Gian's First, but is not described in such detail in the actual written story.
- Shower of Love
- True Love Is Exceptional: In Gian's mind. This being his first love, he feels on top of the world. And he's sure it's going to work -- true love has to. Everyone who has lost their first love knows very well that it doesn't necessarily work out that way. Putting true first love on such a pedestal is too often disconnected from reality.
