Maddigan's Quest/Characters
The Fantasia (Children):
Garland (Rose McIver)
- Action Girl.
- Retroactive Recognition: Many would remember Rose McIver from Peter Jackson's adaptation of the novel The Lovely Bones. Fans of Power Rangers may recognize her as Summer Landsdown, Ranger Operator Series Yellow from Power Rangers RPM.
- She also appears briefly in the series finale of Legend of the Seeker as Kahlan's maid.
- Ship Tease: With Timon. Also crosses with Unresolved Sexual Tension.
- Team Mom.
- The Archer.
- The Hero.
Boomer (David Rawiri Pene)
- Always Second Best
- Badass: Most definitely.
- The Big Guy
- Chekhov's Skill: His drum-beating skills, and later his acquired flight abilities, often come in quite handy.
- Ensemble Darkhorse
- Unlucky Childhood Friend to Garland.
Timon (Jordan Metcalfe)
- Conveniently an Orphan
- Evil Makes You Ugly
- Face Monster Turn (He gets better, though.)
- Ship Tease: With Garland. Also crosses with Unresolved Sexual Tension.
- The Lancer
- The Smart Guy
Eden (Zachary Fox)
- Child Mage
- Conveniently an Orphan
- Genre Savvy
- Ship Tease with Lilith.
Lilith (Olivia Tennet)
- Butt Monkey
- Daddy's Girl: Oh so much.
- Leitmotif: Her "Rainbow" and "Hoochie Coochie" songs.
- Retroactive Recognition: Shortland Street fans may recognize her as Tuesday Warner. Fans of Power Rangers may recognize her as Dr. K, the Mentor figure to the Series Operators on Power Rangers RPM.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Connections: Attempted in Gramth. It doesn't work.
- Ship Tease with Eden.
- Static Character
- Sweet Tooth
- Tagalong Kid
- The Cast Showoff: Olivia Tennet makes use of her singing and dancing talents to comedic effect. Considering how annoying Lilith can be when she sings, this could be an example of Stylistic Suck.
- The Chick
- The Load: Unlike the other Fantasia children, Lilith has little, if any, survival abilities, and becomes the Damsel Scrappy.
- The Scrappy: Your Mileage May Vary. Eden and the Tunnelers don't seem to think so.
Jewel
- Conveniently an Orphan
- Living MacGuffin: It is revealed that she is the "talisman"--the source of Eden's magical abilities.
The Fantasia (Adults):
Yves (Timothy Balme)
- Hey, It's That Guy!: Tim Balme has appeared in several Kiwi television shows like Outrageous Fortune. He will soon be appearing in The Almighty Johnsons as a lead character.
- He also made an appearance in Doctor Who, again as a second-in-command in love with the leader of his group.
Maddie (Danielle Cormack)
- Big Damn Hero: The finale has her coming to Garland's rescue.
Goneril
- Mama Bear: Don't you dare touch Jewel when she's around. Or Eden, for that matter.
Bannister
- Badass Bookworm
- Genius Bruiser: He is the only member of the Fantasia bar Garland who can read.
Ferdy
- Deceased Parents Are the Best: Garland idolizes Ferdy, much to Maddie's detriment.
- The Archer
Silver Girl (Fleur Saville)
- Retroactive Recognition: Shortland Street fans may recognize her as Libby Jeffries.
- Supernatural Aid
- The Cassandra
The Bad Guys
The Nennog
