Disney's Villains' Revenge
"Without you, there will be no happy endings."
An uncharacteristically dark point-and-click computer game released by Disney Interactive in 1999.
The game begins as Jiminy Cricket hosts a storytime session consisting of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. He soon gets bored reading the same stories he's read several times before, and decides to instead challenge the player to match each story with its ending. However, after he tears the pages out of the storybook, visions of Characters appear in the air. After the visions end, the Blue Fairy enters and informs Jiminy that when he removed those pages, he inadvertently prevented the book's protagonists from finding Happily Ever After, and now Queen Grimhilde, the Ringmaster, the Queen of Hearts, and Captain Hook reign victorious. Now, Jiminy and the player must enter the stories' universes, restore the heroes' fates, and finally engage in a four-on-one battle with the villains.
- All Up to You
- Ascended Extra: Apparently the Ringmaster from Dumbo is now the main villain of that film.
- Darker and Edgier: Each universe, compared to its movie. Let's just say that Alice was actually beheaded and Peter Pan grew up to an old man.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: After you defeat the villains, the Blue Fairy adds a story about your adventure to the book.
- Enter Solution Here: The player wakes Snow White and rescues the Dwarfs by searching the Queen's Spell Book for spells that can summon the Prince to her lair, then mixing those spells at her cauldron.
- Everything Trying to Kill You: During the Final Confrontation, the villains shoot everything from cannonballs to cream pies at you.
- Fridge Horror: Alice not only is to have her head cut off because of you, by the time you even get to her level you're already too late and they cut off her head. Sure she clearly gets better, but the mental image of the scene as it happened is pretty dark.
- Losing Your Head: See Fridge Horror, above.
- Medium Awareness:
- Several characters acknowledge the fact they live in "stories".
- The talking doorknobs guarding the first portal also seem aware they live in a Disney Interactive game; one responds to another's Looney Tunes Shout-Out with, "try to remember who we work for!"
- Jiminy Cricket even acknowledges the existence of a Peter Pan movie as he asks you to fling Captain Hook's sword back to him during battle.
- Medium Blending: Two-dimensional characters against Conspicuous CGI backgrounds.
- One of These Doors Is Not Like the Other: Finding Alice's head involves exploring the hedge maze for the paths where one can hear her voice most clearly. Finding the exit of Wonderland involves following the White Rabbit in the reverse direction.
- Only Smart People May Pass: Before you can enter your first story, a pair of talking doorknobs ("Out" and "In") challenge you to find carvings of specific heroes in the front cover.
- Sword Fight: You engage in one against Captain Hook and his pirates in order to save Peter Pan from aging.
- What the Hell, Player?: The Blue Fairy chastises you in rhyme if you try to feed a poison apple to Queen Grimhilde, allow the clowns to abuse Dumbo repeatedly, try to leave Wonderland without Alice's head, or attempt an attack on Captain Hook after he temporarily loses his sword.
