All The Tropes:Content Dumps
Should you wish to mirror the content on All The Tropes on other websites or for personal use, we are happy to provide resources to do so, as long as you obey the following rules:
- All text content is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported (CC BY-SA 3.0) license (barring anything hosted with special permission or public domain). We ask that you include the name of the site and the URL for attribution purposes. We don't mind the reuse, modification, or redistribution of our content so long as you do so under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license terms and seek the copyright owner's permission for any content explicitly marked as "used with permission" in the text. We currently dual license on CC BY-SA 4.0 as well, but you can use either.
- All image content is another story. While most is either under CC-BY-SA or other compatible free licenses, some may be under other licenses or used with special permission, and for those images you should acquire the same permission we did before reusing them publicly. The copyright status of the page is listed on the image's page in the File namespace.
- As long as you obey the first two rules, anything else you aren't barred from doing under CC BY SA 3.0 we aren't going to complain about either, so long as no other copyright or other laws are broken in a manner that reflects on us in the process.
- For the full details on legal reuse, see All The Tropes:Copyrights.
How to acquire content dumps
The Miraheze wikifarm service currently provides XML dumps of all content on All The Tropes. Current revision dumps (dumps with the latest revisions of content only) are preferred due to smaller size and since CC BY SA 4.0 does not require full histories for attribution purposes, but full history dumps can be requested by either contacting the Miraheze administration on Miraheze Meta or the #miraheze IRC channel on Freenode.
Image dumps may be obtained by doing the same.
If you wish to make your own content dump, the WikiTeam provides some free tools for doing so that can be used by anyone to dump our content, please follow their instructions for use of their programs to do so.
For smaller XML dumps with only a few pages, you can use the Special:Export page.
If you wish to see previous versions of this policy, or you want to know when this policy was last updated and what was changed, please review the page history by selecting "History" from the menu at the top of this page.
